Steroids: The Hard Truth, premiered February 16 through 23, 2002

  • Co-hosted by Hercules and Andromeda star Kevin Sorbo, this program addresses the growing use of illegal anabolic steroids by girls as well as boys. Teens from across the country discuss the media influence and allure of steroids for sports and self-image. We hear from an ex-user and medical experts, including directors of an effective steroid prevention program, who describe the dangers of and misconceptions about steroids. We also visit the prevention program in Portland high schools where teens, physical trainers and a nutritionist show how to build up by eating and exercising the right way. Kevin Sorbo, who has never used steroids, speaks out strongly against their use and shares his exercise routine. See the "In the Mix" web site for times and stations - http://www.inthemix.org/

Drug Abuse: Altered States, winner of the 2000 PRISM Award for TV Reality Series or Special
