Are there any exceptions to the rule that a beneficiary cannot get the $600 credit if he/she has an EGHP?
  Question
Are there any exceptions to the rule that a beneficiary cannot get the $600 credit if he/she has an Employer Group Health Plan(EGHP)? What if the EGHP has very limited drug coverage, or only covers generic drugs?
  Answer
Individuals with other health coverage that includes coverage for drugs, such as Employer Group Health Plans (EGHP), are precluded from receiving the $600 credit, UNLESS that other coverage is a Medicare Advantage plan or Medigap. EGHP members who are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan are not precluded from getting the $600 credit, and may apply to meet the other eligibility requirements.
