What does a beneficiary receive when he/she calls 1-800-MEDICARE?
  Question
What does a beneficiary receive when he/she calls 1-800-MEDICARE?
  Answer
All calls to 1-800 MEDICARE go through the interactive voice response (IVR) unit. If in the IVR, the person states "drug card", he or she will reach a 1-800 MEDICARE customer service representative (CSR). If the caller is interested in prescription drug cards, the CSR will use the PDAP tool to help the person find the cards or program that best fit his or her prescription drug needs. Based on the information the caller gives the CSR, the PDAP tool will provide the CSR with the findings. The caller can choose to have the CSR review the findings while on the telephone or the caller can have the CSR place the customized booklet in the mail. We advise callers to take the time to review the customized booklet and if they have any furhter questions to call back 1-800 MEDICARE.
