Subsequent Term Alignment Plan
Retaining Career Marines
The Subsequent Term Alignment Plan (STAP) was established to provide the Marine Corps the ability to target reenlistment goals to monitor Career Reenlistment rates. When Career Marines EAS, we lose a great deal of experience in our enlisted ranks. Through STAP, the Marine Corps focuses on retaining Career Marines. In addition, greater opportunities exist for Selective Reenlistment Bonuses (SRBs) within eligible Military Occupation Specialities (MOSs) in the Career Force. With the success of STAP, promotion tempos across all MOSs become more closely aligned.
This website is intended to allow Career Marines access to current STAP information, to make your reenlistment process as informed and successful as possible. In the links below you will find policies, resources, a Frequently Asked Questions's (FAQ) section, useful references, and more. Continue to visit the site, as we update it and add key items that will benefit you and your career outlook.

The Subsequent Term Alignment Plan (STAP) brochure has been created to assist Career Retention Specialists and Career Marines in understanding the STAP process. The file (in Adobe format) can easily be downloaded and printed for local distribution.
