Specifically, the 1997 surveys contained a series of questions about respondents' attendance at work-related training. One of the questions asked whether respondents paid for any of the training themselves, and if they did, to specify the number of days they paid for. If a respondent indicated that they did not pay for any training themselves, this variable, "Number of Training Days You Paid For", was given a value to indicate "Logical Skipped".
However, the two 1997 NSRCG follow-up panels -- one panel for those who responded to the 1995 survey, and a second panel for those who did not respond -- did not directly ask whether the respondent paid for any professional training. Instead, the follow-up panels asked only how many days of training the respondent paid for. To indicate that they did not pay for any training themselves, panel respondents entered "0" in this variable, which was subsequently changed to a value that indicates "Logical Skipped".
