Introduction

The DoD Antivirus Software License Agreement with Network Associates, Symantec and Trend Micro allows active DoD employees to utilize the antivirus software for home use. Home use of the antivirus products will not only protect personal PCs at home, but will also potentially lessen the threat of employees bringing malicious logic into work and compromising DoD networks. Contractors are excluded from using the software at home or on any other systems not belonging to the DoD. Contractors may only use the software on systems of which are the property of the DoD.

What software should I download?

The software posted to the DoD-CERT site is primarily enterprise level software. Enterprise level refers to software suitable for large corporations, government agencies, and all other entities which require a large network to be centrally managed. The components of enterprise level software usually includes a manament tool for the administrators and software to be installed on the individual client systems.

Most users downloading products from our site for home use should download the "client" software. The enterprise level "client" software is comparable to the retail versions of the products which can be purchased in most stores selling computer software. Accessing the software from the DoD-CERT site is restricted to users originating from a ".mil" domain. The software will have to be downloaded using a system that is part of a ".mil" domain, burned to a CD, and taken home to be installed on your personal PC.

NOTE: The option of downloading the retail version of McAfee VirusScan for Windows is also available. Click here for more information.

Click on the links below to access the client software suited for your home system. Predominantly, most home users are working with either a Windows platform, a Macintosh platform, a Personal Data Assistant (PDA), or a combination of the three. Available software for other platforms can be accessed via the links below.
