Computer Security at NSF

If you plan on bringing your computer to the NSF facility, we ask you to ensure that your computer meets the following conditions:

Macintosh

• OS X Operating System; if older OS version, current anti-virus software must be installed.

LINUX

• Linux (not dual boot) is acceptable; if the computer is configured to dual boot with Microsoft, it must comply with the criteria for Microsoft laptops.

Microsoft

• Windows XP or 2000 with latest Service Pack and all hot fixes loaded.
• Current anti-virus software with latest virus definition (DAT) files
• Complete/full system virus scan within the last week
• Check the System32/wins folder to make sure it does not contain "Dllhosts.exe" or "Svchosts.exe"
