The National Digestive Diseases Information Clearinghouse (NDDIC) is an information and referral service of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), one of the National Institutes of Health. A central information resource on the prevention and management of digestive diseases, the Clearinghouse responds to written inquiries, develops and distributes publications about digestive diseases, and provides referrals to digestive disease organizations. Publications distributed by the Clearinghouse are indexed on the Combined Health Information Database (CHID), available on the web at the internet address http://chid.nih.gov. Access is free of charge.

The Clearinghouse distributes consumer materials on such topics as cirrhosis, diarrhea, gallstone disease, dyspepsia, heartburn, hiatal hernia, hepatitis B, ulcers, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, and Crohn's disease. Materials for professionals cover gallstones, biliary cirrhosis, Crohn's disease, endoscopy, neonatal hepatitis, liver transplantation, and digestive disease treatments. The Clearinghouse publishes a directory of professional and lay digestive disease organizations and a glossary of digestive terms.
