Founded in 1981, APUA is an international grassroots organization with members in over 90 countries. APUA promotes global public health and curbs antibiotic resistance through: the education of health providers and consumers; scientific and public health research, publications and conferences on antibiotic use and antibiotic resistance; raising public awareness through the media; establishing country-specific affiliated chapters in order to tailor public health interventions to local practices and problems.
Publications
The Alliance publishes a fact sheet for the general public on the proper use of antibiotics. Serial publication: APUA Newsletter, quarterly--articles on antibiotic use and resistance and organization news.
