Abstract

CSAP supports SAMHSA's vision--A Life in the Community for Everyone. Through the use of the Strategic Prevention Framework, SAMHSA/CSAP works to decrease substance use and abuse by bringing effective substance abuse prevention to every community. The Strategic Prevention Framework is the means by which states and communities adopt logic-oriented, data driven processes to implement effective prevention policies and systems that are based on scientifically defensible principles and targets both individuals and the environments in which they live. In addition, SAMHSA/CSAP identifies evidence-based and science-based prevention knowledge, disseminates it in a user-friendly manner, and encourages its application in settings where it is likely to prevent or reduce substance abuse.
