POSITION: Research Plant Physiologist
LOCATION: Byron, GA
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The position is located in the Southeastern
Fruit and Tree Nut Research Laboratory, Byron, Georgia. The incumbent
will study the role of nickel (Ni) in horticultural crops, with emphasis
on pecan (Carya illinoinensis). This will include assessment of the importance
of Ni in tree nutrition, nitrogen management of orchards, and nitrate
content of edible plant parts. Study will include elemental and nitrate
analyses, enzyme assays, and various assessments of physiological stress.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: A recent Ph.D. in Plant Physiology,
or closely related field is required (i.e., Horticulture, Forestry, Agronomy,
Plant Biochemistry, or Botany). Knowledge of plant micro nutrient and
nitrogen nutrition or physiology, and enzyme assay methodology are desired.
