POSITION: Research Plant Molecular Biologist

LOCATION: Ithaca, NY

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The position is located at the US Plant, Soil and Nutrition Laboratory on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. The incumbent will be part of a team conducting research on understanding the regulatory mechanisms of carotenoid biosynthesis in plants, using a cauliflower Orange gene mutation as a model. Specific duties are by applying biochemical, molecular and genomic approaches to elucidate the function and regulation of the isolated Orange gene in conferring high-level accumulation of carotenoids in cauliflower and other plants.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Recent Ph.D. in plant molecular biology, biochemistry, or a closely related field is required. Substantial knowledge and experience in molecular biology and protein biochemistry are required. Excellent communication skills are desirable. A highly self-motivated and dedicated individual who is willing to undertake scientific challenges is desired.
