POSITION: Research Molecular Biologist/Microbiologist

LOCATION: Peoria, IL

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The position is located in the National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research, Peoria, Illinois. The incumbent will join a laboratory of functional genomics and participate on going research of microbial stress tolerance mechanisms. Specific objective of the incumbent assignment is to develop enhanced biotransformation yeast strains against bioethanol fermentation inhibitors using directed enzyme evolution strategy. Methods and procedures will include generating directed evolution library, cloning, screening, gene isolation, and strain characterization.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A recent Ph.D. in molecular biology, microbiology, genetics, life science or a related field is required. Knowledge and experience in library creation, gene cloning, PCR, and ELISA based assays are desirable.
