POSITION: Research Molecular Biologist/Research Geneticist

LOCATION: Kearneysville, WV

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The position is located in the Appalachian Fruit Research Station, Kearneysville, West Virginia. The Incumbent will conduct research on the characterization and engineering of genetic mechanisms that govern DNA recombination, cleavage and modification in transgenic plants. Additionally, the incumbent will also characterize and identify potential plant factors that play important roles in modulating chromatin architecture and gene excision. The results of these studies will be used to help develop an innovative approach for tissue-specific transgene excision and containment in transgenic plants.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A recent Ph.D in biology, molecular biology, genetics or closely related field is required. Skill in DNA and RNA analysis techniques, plasmid construction, and transgenic analysis is also required.
