Abstract

Advocates for Youth, formerly The Center for Population Options (CPO) is a national organization that focuses on adolescents as the critical group to reach with information on reproductive health and family planning options. Advocates works to increase the opportunities for and abilities of youth to make healthy decisions about sexuality. It runs a number of projects toward its ends: Media Projects; International programs; HIV prevention education programs; condom availability clearinghouse; adolescent pregnancy prevention clearinghouse; school-based health centers; and support centers. Advocates for Youth also operates the International Clearinghouse on Adolescent Fertility, which disseminates information in English, Spanish, and French on adolescent fertility and childbearing worldwide. Finally, the Advocates' Public Education and Resource Center contains a unique collection of over 10,000 peer-reviewed articles and monographs relating to adolescent reproductive and sexual health. Advocates for Youth is supported by grants and contributions from corporations, institutions, and individuals.

Publications

Advocates for Youth offers a variety of fact sheets, guides, reports, and audiovisual materials on sex education, program planning, public policy, media and advertising, and other topics related to adolescent fertility and pregnancy. Serial publication: Transitions (newsletter), quarterly--national legislative, regulatory, and court matters; news on local programs; public policy developments; Linkx (newsletter); Passages (newsletter).
