If your city is not on the per diem rate listing, have you looked at the county location? The city could be located within one of the counties listed. The following commercial website may help you determine in what county your city is located. National Association of Counties Website

If neither the city nor the county is on our per diem listing, it is considered a standard CONUS destination ($60.00 for lodging and $31.00 for M&IE).

The policy of the Government, as reflected in the Hotel and Motel Fire Safety Act of 1990 (Pub. L. No. 101-391, September 25, 1990 as amended by Pub. L. No. 105-85, November 18, 1997), referred to as "the Act" in this paragraph, is to save lives and protect property by promoting fire safety in hotels, motels, and all places of public accommodation affecting commerce. In furtherance of the Act's goals, we encourage employees to stay in a fire-safe facility ( i.e., an approved accommodation), when commercial lodging is required. A list of lodging properties that meet Government requirements is on the U.S. Fire Administration's Internet site at http://www.usfa.fema.gov/hotel.
