Working with Other Governments I-Gov Collaboration Overview

Cooperation among federal, state and local governments and with others worldwide is important to helping all governments deliver better service to their citizens.

I-Gov programs bring federal, state, local, tribal and other national governments together to better serve citizens, businesses, and the public sector. I-Gov is GSA's center of expertise for intergovernmental collaboration. I-Gov supports cooperation among federal, state and local governments and with other governments worldwide, which is increasingly important in this interconnected world.

I-Gov Networks and Communities
Building a community of individuals across governments is the first step to coordinating intergovernmentally. The Center for Intergovernmental Collaboration maintains links among these networks and communities to help locate individuals and organizations in all levels of government, as well as practitioners who work with multiple levels of government and organizations that do intergovernmental work.

I-Gov International
The U.S. government is working closely with other national governments to share information, best practices, contacts and leading-edge ideas, particularly in the area of Information Technology. This community includes thought leaders in other national, state or provincial, and local governments throughout the world.

I-Gov Best Practices and Innovations
Intergovernmental management is a new and growing discipline. Leaders in intergovernmental collaboration are ground-breakers who design and implement cross-cutting government processes to deliver efficient, citizen-centric services. We track innovative and best practices in intergovernmental management and share that information with our colleagues and partners in governments around the world.

I-Gov Publications and Research
Researchers have studied governments to explain and predict trends in public management. As we become more intergovernmental in our approach, documenting the experiences and lessons learned by the pioneers is critical. Sharing this information openly and globally is one of the most significant ways to disseminate best practices and innovative ideas in order to improve governments worldwide.
