Founded over 30 years ago, The American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP) exists to serve the needs, interests and welfare to all kidney patients and their families. Its mission is to improve the lives of fellow kidney patients and thir families by helping them deal with the physical, emotional and social impact of kidney disease. To accomplish these goals, AAKP engages in a variety of educational and supportive programs. In addition, AAKP has several local chapters to serve kidney patients and their families throughout the country.
Publications
AAKP publications include a bimonthly magazine for patients and thir families and a quaterly magazine for chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients and their families, a sodium, potassium and phosphorus dietary counter, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 brochure, a blood chemistry sheet, When Your Kidneys Fail - options brochure, AAKP Advisory on Dialysis, a brochure about the importance of iron, AAKP Resources brochures, AAKP Patient Plan(c) intro brochure and AAKP Membership brochure.
