Abstract

The American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS) is a professional association dedicated to the exploration and applications of laser technology to biology, medicine, and surgery. The Society seeks to facilitate these applications by encouraging research, providing a forum for the exchange of information, formulating standards and guidelines for the establishment of laser programs. ASLMS also keeps its members informed regarding all postgraduate courses and training programs. The Society also answers questions regarding lasers from the public. ASLMS was founded in 1980 through a grant by the A. Ward Memorial Institute and is now supported by membership.
