The Office of Cancer Information Products and Services manages the production of evidence-based information summaries on cancer topics including treatment, screening, prevention, genetics, supportive care and complementary and alternative medicine for patients, health professionals and the public; manages an international cancer clinical trials information database for the NCI to help patients, health professionals, researchers, and the public locate clinical trials of interest, especially those supported by NCI; tests, analyzes, and evaluates content, information formats and dissemination methods to determine user needs, satisfaction and information gaps that should be addressed; develops, maintains and disseminates cancer information including peer-reviewed summaries, clinical trials and other NCI information through a variety of dissemination methods including the web, fax, email, wireless, and partnerships with organizations that license NCI information; develops and maintains computer systems and a communications infrastructure to produce NCI databases such as PDQ and CANCERLIT; and evaluates feasibility of applying new technologies to develop, enhance, maintain and deliver NCI information.
