Abstract

The Institute for Self-Directed Care is an independent nonprofit research, education and advocacy organization whose mission includes promoting a healthcare model that is self-directed, patient-centered, supported by good science, and safely and efficiently delivered with compassion and candor. With membership and governance that come from a deliberate mix of consumers and providers of care, and includes financial independence from all healthcare organizations, the ISDC is uniquely positioned to play a vigorous role in implementing a new health system.
