How to Apply

PLEASE READ NEW INSTRUCTIONS

TVA only accepts resumes for current open or anticipated positions.

Apply by E-Mail (preferred method)

1. Identify positions in Current Job Opportunities matching your qualifications.

2. At the end of each position announcement on which you are applying, click “How to Apply”.

3. In order to be considered for a position, all of the following must be received by the closing date of the position:

  • Your resume

  • Applicant Information Sheet

  • The name and job number of the position on which you are applying must be in the subject line of your email

4. If your submission does not include a resume, Applicant Information Sheet and the name and number of the position on which you are applying in the subject line of your email, your submission will be considered incomplete and will not be considered.

5. When applying on multiple positions, you need only submit one resume and Applicant Information Sheet in your email, but you must indicate each position title and number in the subject line of your email.

6. When you are ready to apply for a specific position, click “Submit” at the end of the page and attach your resume and Applicant Information Sheet to the email. Include the name and number of the position on which you are applying in the subject line of your email.

7. If you do not have access to email and need to establish an email account, there are several free email services available on the Internet. You can go to any search engine and type “free email” to get a listing of the websites that provide this service.

8. No faxed documents will be accepted.

9. Citizenship

TVA gives hiring preference to qualified U.S. citizens and other “protected individuals” (green card holders, asylees, etc.) for all job vacancies. Between qualified U.S. citizens and other protected individuals, TVA gives hiring preference to equally qualified born or naturalized U.S. citizens. For more information, please view the TVA Citizenship Policy.

10. Veteran’s Preference

To claim veteran’s preference for a specific position, appropriate veteran documentation must be received by the closing date of the position.

Appropriate documentation generally includes:

  • DD-214 for documentation of military service and discharge under honorable conditions
  • Letter from U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (no more than 12 months old as of the closing date of the position) to document any claimed current disability rating and percentage of applicable disability

In rare cases, if the required veteran documentation cannot be submitted by the closing date of the position (i.e. not yet issued due to recent military discharge), a Request for Extension (Form TVA 17900) and Veteran Status Information (Form TVA 3595) must be filed by the closing date of the position. These forms should accompany your resume and Applicant Information Sheet when you apply on the position and must be received by the closing date of the position to be considered. Requests for Extension and Veteran Status Information forms received after the closing date for the position will not be considered.

All requests for extension will be reviewed and approved or denied on a case-by-case basis, based on business needs. Denial of a request for extension will apply only to the specific position on which the applicant is applying.

For future applications for positions, if veteran documentation is received by the closing date of the position, veteran’s preference will be applied as appropriate.

Applicants claiming derived veteran’s preference, in addition to submitting the required veteran documents outlined above, must complete Veteran Status Information (form TVA 3595) and submit by the closing date of the position in order for veteran’s preference to be considered for the specific position on which they are applying.

For more information on veteran’s preference, read TVA’s Veteran’s Handbook.
