Search Help

Overall Search Tips

None of the searches are case sensitive. Typing DOT will produce the same results as dot.

All of the searches display information about what you searched for at the top of the results page. Double-check this information if you did not get the results you expected.

Try using a less specific phrase or term, for instance, try 'truck' instead of 'trucking'. Truck will bring back results for 'truck' 'trucks' 'trucking', etc. For all searches except the General Search you can also enter in partial words to widen the search.

Help for the General Search

Go to General Search

The search is not case sensitive. Typing DOT will produce the same results as dot.

To search for multiple words, separate each word with a comma (,). For example, if you specify time, manage, search will return all documents containing the words time or manage. Additionally, it will return all documents containing variations of these words, such as timely and management.

To search for an exact word or phrase, enclose the word or phrase in quotation marks (""). For example, if you specify "time manage", search will return only the documents containing the phrase time manage.

Choose the "Entire Site" from Search In when you are not sure where to look, or when looking for general information. Please note this will not include the Find A Job, Phone Directory, or Work Portfolio sections.

Choose a specific subsection from Search In when looking for specific information, know where you want to look, or want more control over your search.

This search is a Boolean search. You can use the traditional AND, OR, and NOT operators to modify your search. For more details read the Boolean search tips below.

Boolean search tips

Use AND to return all documents that contain the words you specified in the Search for field. For example, entering DOT AND policy will return all documents containing both DOT and policy.

Use OR to return all documents that contain at least one of the words you specified in the Search for field. For example, entering DOT OR policy will return all documents containing DOT or policy, or both.

Use NOT to return all documents that contain the first word you entered in the Search for field, but not the second word you entered. For example, entering DOT NOT policy will return all documents containing DOT but not policy.
