Members of Sandia’s Media Relations staff help print, broadcast, and online media throughout the world get the latest news and information about Sandia. The team regularly issues news releases on paper, via email, and on the Web. Many online releases include high-resolution images that members of the news media are welcome to download and use with credit to Sandia National Laboratories.

Media Relations staff members respond to queries or direct members of the news media to appropriate sources within the Lab for additional technical information. Most members of our staff are former reporters and understand their needs. While all staff members have a good general knowledge about Sandia’s many technology areas, each has developed greater expertise in certain areas, as noted below. John German is Media Relations Team Leader and coordinates day-to-day staff activity. He directs or responds to general requests for information about Sandia and specializes in nonproliferation and international programs technologies, aircraft safety R&D;, and lab security. Mike Janes is the Media Relations Team Leader for Sandia’s California site (Sandia/California), located in the Bay Area in the city of Livermore, Calif., 50 miles east of San Francisco. He specializes in Sandia’s homeland security programs and responds to requests for information about technical work undertaken at Sandia/California. The site has technical programs in microelectronics, sensors, weapons nonproliferation, environmental matters, automotive and transit R&D;, combustion and hydrogen R&D;, and cybersecurity.
