$479,947 Awarded for Library Service for Native Hawaiians
WASHINGTON, DC - The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the primary funding agency for the nation's libraries and museums, announced that ALU LIKE, Inc. and the Bishop Museum Library and Archives in Honolulu are the recipients of the Native Hawaiian Library Services grants for 2004. For descriptions of their winning grant projects, please see the attached.
"These grants will help improve library services for all native Hawaiians," said IMLS Director Robert Martin. "In addition to providing traditional educational and informational needs, the grants will also help preserve and provide access to Native Hawaiian culture, language, and history."
The Institute of Museum and Library Services is an independent federal grant-making agency dedicated to creating and sustaining a nation of learners by helping libraries and museums serve their communities. The Institute fosters leadership, innovation, and a lifetime of learning by supporting the nation's 15,000 museums and 122,000 libraries.
