Principal Director for GIG Operations

Mission:

DISA Central/Operations Command (CENTCOM) Field Office has the primary responsibility to support their assigned Commanders and Components by providing local management of the DISA assigned portion of the DII. They ensure viability of DISA systems and that the DISN backbone is responsive and sized to meet Combatant Commanders demands.

Functions:
  • DISA Central Operations Command (CENTCOM) Field Office is responsible for the following major functions:
  • Focal point for Combatant Commanders/Component customer service.
  • Provides the warfighters in theater with seamless, end-to-end, integrated information services that are flexible, interoperable, reliable, affordable and sustainable.
  • Plans, schedules, monitors and manages support to contingency and exercise operations of the Combatant Commanders and the supporting forces (ie. components, JTFs, SOFs).
  • Supports the implementation of GIG in the theater of responsibility as authorized by the Director DISA and in accordance with DISA Headquarters policy and procedures.
  • Develops, exercises, and updates Combatant Commanders OPLANs to ensure DISA support in response to crises and major exercises.
  • Coordinates Combatant Commanders initiatives, requirements within DISA and coordinates DISA initiatives/requirements to the Combatant Commanders and with others in the AOR, as appropriate.
  • Provides theater management of DOD networks, standards, and security.
  • Provides the Combatant Commanders with information technology planning and technical support.
  • Performs network management and control functions on the GIG in the AOR.
  • Maintains close coordination with other DISA Field Commanders supporting those systems and circuits which traverse between AORs.

DISA Central Operations Command (CENTCOM) Field Office is responsible for the following specific function:

Provides technical advice and assistance in the planning, implementation, and operational use of DISA-related command, control, communications, and computer systems programs and projects of importance to the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), the Joint Communications Support Element (JCSE), and the 6th Communication Squadron, all headquartered at MacDill Air Force Base. The mission support requirements of these organizations --- JCSE have global missions; USCENTCOM has a theater - specific mission; and the 6th CS provides local base support --- produces a wide range of customer support needs, both for the Field of Office and the entire DISA HQ Staff.

Organizational Relationships:

The Commander of CENTCOM reports directly to and receives operational direction from the Principal Director for GIG Operations.
