NCCAM Grantee Publications Database

This database provides citations of publications by NCCAM grantees. It represents the results of NCCAM-funded research. More publications are continuously added to this database.

To find specific citations, you can sort by principal investigator's last name, title of article, journal name, grant mechanism, or grant number. You may also search for a word or phrase contained in the title of the article.

Records in this database contain the following fields:

  • Journal: Where the article was published. You may sort the database alphabetically by journal name or you may search for specific journals.

  • Date: Date the article was published. You may sort the database by date with the most recent date appearing first.

  • Title: Title of article. You may sort the database alphabetically by the title of the article. You may also search for a word or phrase contained in the title of the article (e.g., search on "acupuncture" to find all articles with acupuncture in the title).

  • Authors: Many publications have several different authors. This field lists up to five of the authors who contributed to a specific article. You may search the database for all articles by a specific author.

  • Principal Investigator: A principal investigator is the person responsible for directing a research project. You may sort the database alphabetically by the principal investigator's last name. Or you may search for a specific principal investigator.

  • Grant number: Grants are the funding mechanisms for conducting research. Each grant is assigned a grant number, which contains codes for the grant mechanism and the primary sponsor, and a unique identifying number. You may sort by the following components:

    • Grant mechanism (R01, R21, etc.)

    • Primary sponsor: Citations with grant numbers that contain "AT" are projects for which NCCAM was the primary funding source. Citations containing other abbreviations, such as HL or CA, are projects for which another institute or center within the National Institutes of Health (NIH) was the primary funding source, and NCCAM provided partial funding.

  • PubMed ID: Clicking on the PubMed ID will link you to a PubMed reference for the article, which often includes an abstract of the article and may include a link to the full text of the article. PubMed is a database of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) that provides an easy way to access over 12 million journal citations in the MEDLINE database and additional life science journals.

To continue your research…

To conduct a more comprehensive literature search, visit CAM on PubMed, a subset of NLM's PubMed. CAM on PubMed contains over 270,000 references to CAM-related articles in medical and scientific journals.

To find full-text copies of articles, we encourage you to request assistance from your local or regional library. Also, some publishers post full-text versions of their articles on their Web sites. Some articles are also provided through NLM's PubMed.
