NCCAM, the Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS), and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) convened an expert panel in February 2003 to review the jointly funded Botanical Research Centers Program. This report summarizes the panel's findings and recommendations.
Based upon recommendations provided by the panel as well as research priorities of NCCAM, ODS, and NIEHS, the following concept was presented to the NCCAM Advisory Council on September 8, 2003:
