Dear Colleague:
The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) plans to hold a Pre-Statement of Participation Conference on its new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Demonstration Program on January 8, 1999. Your organization is invited to participate in this meeting concerning FTA's BRT Demonstration Program. The BRT Demonstration Program was formally announced in the Federal Register on December 10, 1998. A copy of the announcement is enclosed.
The purpose of this meeting is to outline the program, to receive comments, to obtain suggestions on the conduct of the program and to answer questions regarding the BRT Demonstration Program and the solicited Statements of Participation. This conference is particularly important as we begin to move forward with this exciting program. Your input will help us tailor the program to the needs of the transit industry.
The meeting will be held at the Department of Transportation's NASSIF Building, 400 Seventh Street, SW., Washington, D.C., from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., in Room 2230. If you plan to attend, please contact Ms. Charlene Wilder at (202) 366-1077 or by e-mail at Charlene.Wilder @ fta.dot.gov. For further information, please contact Edward L. Thomas, Associate Administrator for Research, Demonstration and Innovation at (202) 3664052 or Bert Arrillaga, Chief, Service Innovation Division at (202) 366-0231.
I look forward to your participation at the conference.
Sincerely, Gordon J. Linton
