To get Medicaid, you must usually be a pregnant woman, a child, a member of a low-income family, or must be aged, blind or disabled. A few states also cover single, healthy adults.
You also must meet state income and resource standards, and certain other requirements.
Finally, you must be a resident of the state, and be a United States citizen or a qualified immigrant. Legal immigrants can also qualify under certain circumstances depending on their date of entry into the country. Illegal aliens cannot qualify, except for emergency care.
