No registration required.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services invite you to participate in a special webcast on Tuesday, October 26, 2004

To access the webcast on October 26, please go to http://www.cms.hhs.gov

The webcast is being held to provide more information on the provisions of the Medicare Modernization Act of 2003 dealing with retiree drug coverage.  Employers and unions, as well as insurers, benefits consultants, and CMS' other partners in this area are encouraged to participate in the webcast. The 2 hour event will provide discussion on the opportunities available to employers for continuing to provide coverage to their retirees, including the subsidy, wrap around coverage, and options for becoming a PDP.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has four objectives to be reflected in the proposed regulation and upcoming rule.

First Goal: Maximize the number of retirees retaining employer-based drug coverage through the retiree subsidy.

Second Goal: Prevent windfalls -- assuring that plan sponsors contribute to retiree drug coverage at least what Medicare pays on the retirees' behalf.

Third Goal: Minimize administrative burdens on beneficiaries, employers and unions.

Fourth Goal: Minimize costs and remain within budget estimates.

In its efforts to maintain an ongoing dialogue, CMS will utilize this effort to make certain employers, unions and plan sponsors are up-to-date on proposals and upcoming regulations regarding retiree drug coverage.

Groups interested in viewing this webcast include employers, unions, third party administrators, other plan sponsors and insurers, public retiree organizations, and benefit consultants. CEOs, CFOs, plan administrators and partners, union representatives, human resource managers and consultants, and other business representatives will find the webcast very useful in their upcoming decision making processes regarding retiree health benefits.
