Remarks at September 9 "America Alive!" Concert, organized by Romanian artists in celebration of America
Thank you so much for this superb show, planned and organized by Romanian citizens in honor of my country. It was truly wonderful!
It's true that, one year after the tragedy of September 11, America is "alive." But it's also clear this evening, that America's relations with Romania are very deep, and very personal - relations that span music and literature, history and culture, friendship and the bonds of family. We are grateful to Romania not only for its partnership in the fight against terrorism, but for these deeper relations.
I know that my fellow American citizens who are here tonight share the pride I have in our flag, which has come to stand for freedom across the world. I know also that I speak for them when I say thank you for your friendship, for your hospitality, and for the honor of this wonderful show. May God bless you.
