Command, Control, Communications, and Computer (C4) Systems Directorate (J6)

The C4 Systems Directorate, designated as J6, helps the command accomplish its various roles as transformer, integrator, trainer, provider and experimenter through providing dependable information technology networks and generalized communications support as well as acting as the chief information officer (CIO) for the command.

Major J6 transformation initiatives include:

• Developing the C4 portion of emerging concepts such as the Standing Joint Force Headquarters.
• Influencing the requirements process for Department of Defense-wide C4 issues.
• Delivering an effective Global Broadcast Service.

J6 also works to increase the ability of the services to work together and with the militaries of other nations. Major directorate interoperability initiatives include:

• Intergrating collaborative tools in to the command's technology structure.
• Streamlining information sharing in allied or coalition environments.
