About the One Stop Mortgage Center Welcome to the first comprehensive web site designed to provide homeownership and mortgage lending information to tribal members in Indian Country, lenders, Federal employees, tribal leaders, and tribally designated housing entities. The reality of homeownership in Indian Country can be complex. Why? The changing land status issues, diversity of tribal laws and governments, lack of mortgage information, homebuyer skills, homebuyer education, and capital-all contribute to the challenges of mortgage lending for most Native Americans. In order to begin addressing these challenges, The Department of Housing and Urban Development and U.S. Treasury convened a task force of tribal governments, lenders, and federal agencies to develop the One Stop Mortgage Center Initiative Report. This report identifies barriers and recommends solutions to make the mortgage process more user friendly for homeownership opportunity in Indian Country.. This website is an outgrowth of the One Stop effort. We provide links to the One Stop Report, Interagency Lease and Lending, model documents and the Memorandum of Understanding for Participation on Federal Lending Programs and other programs available in Indian Country. The HUD Office of Native American Programs Section 184 program link provides a list of lenders doing mortgage lending in Indian Country and tribes currently approved for participation in the 184 program.
