Educational Institutions

  • The Health Legacy Partnerships (www.healthlegacy.org), a project of the Joseph H. Kanter Family Foundation, is building the National Health Outcomes Database, a statistically reliable, comprehensive and confidential database of patients' treatment experiences to help determine which treatments work best for specific diseases and conditions. To pursue its objectives, the Foundation co-founded a pioneering government-private venture, the Health Legacy Partnership (HELP), with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

  • American Indian Disability Technical Assistance Center Training Calendar lists training events for early intervention specialists, rural economic developers, educators, employment specialists, health care professionals, housing specialists, tribal managers, social services providers, people with disabilities, elders, family members, rehabilitation personnel, and transportation providers.

  • Directory of Training Programs in Health Services and Health Policy Research provides information about U.S. and International post-baccalaureate certificate, master's, doctoral, and postdoctoral programs in the fields of health services research and health policy.

  • The New York-New Jersey Public Health Training Center: "Orientation to Public Health: A Web-Based One-Hour Learning Experience" Designed for support and technical staff in public health agencies and helpful for anyone new to public health practice, the course can be incorporated into routine orientation programs.

  • The Center for Research on Minority Health (CRMH) at the University of Texas is a comprehensive investigational, educational and outreach component of M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. It focuses on cancer and, ultimately, other health issues disproportionately affecting ethnic minorities and the medically underserved.

  • American College Health Association is the principal advocate and leadership organization for college and university health. The association provides advocacy, education, communications, products, and services, as well as promotes research and culturally competent practices to enhance its members' ability to advance the health of all students and the campus community.

  • "Center for Minority Health" at the Graduate School of Public Health, University of Pittsburg. The Center for Minority Health Network (CMHNet) has been designed as the lead entity within the Schools of the Health Sciences to coordinate the academic/ research and service activities of members of the faculty and students who deal with issues of relevance to minority health.

  • Comprehensive Training Program in Natural Medicine for Health Professionals
    Special Training Course in Maharishi Vedic Medicine, with Focus on Chronic Disorders

  • Title V: Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program. Grants are awarded to Hispanic-Serving Institutions to assist eligible Hispanic-serving institutions of higher education to expand their capacity to serve Hispanic and low-income students. Five-year development grants and one-year planning grants are awarded.

  • National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education (NAFEO). NAFEO is the national umbrella and public policy advocacy organization for 118 of the nation's historically and predominantly Black colleges and universities. Its mission is to champion the interests of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) through the executive, legislative, regulatory and judicial branches of federal & state government.

  • American Indian Higher Education Consortium. AIHEC's mission is to maintain commonly held standards of quality in American Indian education; support the development of new tribally controlled colleges; promote and assist in the development of legislation to support American Indian higher education; and encourage greater participation by American Indians in the development of higher education policy.

  • Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities. HACU's mission is to promote the development of member colleges and universities; to improve access to and the quality of post-secondary educational opportunities for Hispanic students; and to meet the needs of business, industry and government through the development and sharing of resources, information and expertise.

  • Minority Nurse.com: The Career and Educational Resource for the Minority Nursing Professional.

  • Howard University: Urban Asthma Care Website, developed to provide health care providers and individuals with asthma and their families with information, resources, and strategies that address the challenges of living with asthma in an urban environment.

  • University of California San Francisco: Center for Health and Community established to assess the challenges of the changing health care delivery environment and identify policies and interventions that will maximize the beneficial impact of the changing health care delivery system.

  • University of Utah: Access to Electronic Spanish-Language Patient Education Materials: A Utah Community Project. Funded by the National Library of Medicine, the Eccles Health Sciences Library and the Office of Outpatient Education have created a website that offers medical information in Spanish. The website also lists a toll free number where additional information is provided in both English and Spanish.
