FAQ
Disease/Condition/Therapy Information
Question: How do I find information about a disease, medical condition, or course of therapy?
Answer:
NLM staff cannot respond to questions about individual medical cases, provide second opinions or make specific recommendations regarding therapy. Those issues should be addressed directly with your healthcare provider.
To find information on your topic, we suggest you try the following resources:
- - search MedlinePlus, the NLM's consumer health Web pages designed to link you to full-text information about diseases, conditions, and wellness issues on the Web at http://medlineplus.gov/
- - search MEDLINE the NLM's database of professional medical literature. Details can be found at http://www.nlm.nih.gov/services/usemedline.html
- - check your local public, medical, or university libraries to determine what other medical/health information services are available to you
- - ask your librarian for help with computer searches, getting copies of articles and identifying other resources and organizations that have information on your topic. Also, see our FAQ on getting journal articles at http://www.nlm.nih.gov/services/ill.html
