  If you need help finding something, understanding our different file formats, printing files you've downloaded, installing or using the tax products CD-ROM, or any similar technical problem, here is the place to seek assistance.
• Help With General Tax Questions
  You may submit tax law questions here to receive an answer via email. We can help with general tax questions related to filing tax returns---such as what to file, when to file, where to file, whom you can claim, what you can deduct, changes in tax law, etc. This is NOT the place for highly complex tax issues or questions regarding your specific tax account (i.e., any question that requires your name and social security number to answer). For questions regarding your specific tax account, you must call 1-800-829-1040. If you want to check on your refund for the current tax year, call 1-800-829-4477. If you have received a notice, letter or bill, please call the number on that correspondence.
• Help Finding a Specific Form or Publication.
  Don't know the exact title or number of the Form or Publication you need? Here's the place to locate it by topic.
• Mail me a blank Federal tax form, instruction or publication .
  It could take up to two weeks to receive any of these products via mail. Nearly all of these products are available for download from this site, from our TaxFAX, fax on demand service, or from our tax products CD-ROM.
• Reporting Tax Fraud
  If you have information about an individual or company you suspect is not complying with the tax law, please call 1-800-829-0433.
• Tax Return or Refund Status
  If you want to check on the status of a return or refund (must have been filed at least four weeks ago), please call 1-800-829-4477.
