Learning Object: In, On, and At
In this Learning Object, learners find out about the prepositions "in," "on," and "at" and look at examples of how to use these words. Learning Objects are small units of learning that can be used in conjunction with instruction or as a stand alone activity. Developed by The Wisconsin Online Resource Center at Fox Valley Technical College. The Wisc-Online Resource Center has a number of other Learning Objects for use in the ABE/ESL setting, ranging from English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Health and Financial Literacy.

Picture Stories for Adult ESL Health Literacy
The National Center for ESL Literacy Education provides these health related activities for beginner and low-literacy ESL students. For use in the classroom, these activities are designed by an ESOL teacher and curriculum writer to encourage discussions and questions on sensitive issues. Featured topics include: "Emergency", "A Doctor's Appointment" and "Stressed Out". There is also a picture story on domestic violence.

Secrets of Aging
This online website "Secrets of Aging" is the accompaniment to a traveling exhibit developed by the Museum of Science, Boston in collaboration with Science Museum Exhibit Collaborative. This site discussed the social science, psychological, and biological research behind aging.

Building Big Activities

The Virginia Adult Education Health Literacy Toolkit
The Virginia Adult Education Health Literacy Toolkit is a one-stop resource for adult literacy and ESOL programs' health literacy education needs. It provides extensive resources to help educators understand the diverse health literacy needs of adult learners, better understand the U.S. health care system, employ creative and productive approaches to incorporate health education into classes and curricula, and more. While the Toolkit focuses on Virginia, the majority of the information, teaching ideas and teaching materials it contains are useful nationwide.
