Chicken Genome Sequencing: Gallus gallus

Red Jungle Fowl (Gallus gallus) The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) has supported a chicken (Gallus gallus) genome sequencing project that produced of 6-fold whole genome shotgun sequence coverage of the chicken genome. The resulting sequence assembly was completed in March 2004 (click here to see press release).
