Eligibility criteria
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a U.S. citizen who is or was an educator (teaching, training) teaching English as a Foreign or Second Language and whose highest level/grade of education completed is a master's, doctoral or professional degree.
Description
The English Language Specialist/Speaker Program recruits professionally trained American academicians for short-term assignments of two to six weeks to support U.S. embassy goals. English language specialists are recruited to work on short-term projects in curriculum design, materials development, English for specific purposes (ESP), program evaluation, or teacher training. Specialists are also recruited as plenary speakers for local, national, or regional conferences of English language professionals. In fiscal year 2001, the State Department Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs sent a total of 61 specialists to U.S. embassies worldwide.
