Disadvantaged Health Professions Faculty Loan Repayment Program Am I eligible?

Eligibility criteria
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be: 1) a US national, citizen or permanent resident, 2) currently or previously employed by an accredited health professions school, 3) teaching at the college or university level, 4) one who faced significant economic or other environmental disadvantages in obtaining education or training in health care, and 5) one who currently has student loan debt.

Description
The purpose of this program is to encourage degree-trained health professionals from disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue academic careers. "Disadvantaged background" is broadly defined as having faced significant economic or other environmental disadvantages that inhibited the attainment of education or training in a health professions field. Applicants must demonstrate having had disadvantaged status during their time of schooling.

The Federal government will pay up to $20,000 of the outstanding principal and interest on the qualified participant's health profession student loans for each year that she or he serves on the faculty of an accredited health professions school. Schools must agree to match the program's loan repayment contributions in addition to paying a faculty salary. Program participants must serve a minimum of two years.
