Eligibility criteria
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a U.S. national, citizen or dual citizen who is now or has previously been employed by an accredited health professions school and is now qualified/certified/licensed in the practice of geriatric medicine, psychiatry, internal medicine, or family medicine.
Description
The Federal Government makes awards of $50,000 per year (with cost of living increases for each of five years) to selected individuals who are committed to academic careers teaching clinical geriatrics. Applicants must hold a junior faculty position at an accredited school of medicine or osteopathic medicine that supports his or her career development plans and efforts to provide leadership as a teacher of geriatric care. Program participants are required to provide training in clinical geriatrics, including training interdisciplinary teams of health care professionals.
