Overview: | The USGS has conceptualized and implemented a variety of technical activities as part of the Regional Water Data Banks Project, a project of the Multilateral Working Group on Water Resources of the Middle East Peace Process. Several of these activities focused on enhancing water quality information in the region, including field determinations, quality assurance, laboratory reviews, and others.

USGS Mission Tie In: |
The U.S. Department of State requested the USGS to undertake these activities and has provided political guidance and funding for all activities. The project supports U.S. foreign policy and showcases USGS expertise in the field of water quality. The activities support the USGS mission to expand understanding of the environment and natural resource issues on a global scale. USGS expertise, conveyed to scientists in Middle East water agencies, will provide technical tools to this water-short region to manage water resources and to enhance and protect the population's quality of life. |
