The Mine Safety and Health Administration is pleased to begin bringing you transcripts of hearings held on proposed rules. We are beginning with the transcripts for the Proposed Rule for Noise Standards.
We are providing these transcripts in two formats. The first is PDF (please read) and the other is ASCII DOS Text (txt). We are providing the text format for downloading for use with any word processing package you might have.
The PDF files may be searched using the "Find" option under "Tools". Just enter a word or concept you are looking for and the Find feature will highlight all instances of the same.
For those rules that we have "Comments Submitted to MSHA by the Public", there will be a link provided.

Transcripts of Public Hearings
The Mine Safety
and Health Administration (MSHA) is holding public meetings to obtain
information that will help MSHA evaluate the following five issues: number
one, whether to lower our asbestos permissible exposure limit; two,
whether we should replace our existing fiber analysis method, referred to
as phase-contrast microscopy, with a more sensitive method, which is
transmission electron microscopy; number three, whether we should
implement safeguards to limit take-home exposure; number four, whether our
field sampling methods are adequate and how are sampling results are being
used; and number five, what is the likely benefit and cost impact of any
rulemaking action we would take on these five issues. These are the
transcripts of those meetings. |
