Summer Institute on Aging Research, Queenstown, MD - July 10-16, 2004
The Summer Institute on Aging Research offers new researchers intensive exposure to issues and challenges in research on aging. Applications and letters of recommendation must be received by March 1, 2004

Florence S. Mahoney Memorial Lecture - December 3, 2003
On Wednesday, December 3rd, Gary Ruvkun, Ph.D. of Harvard Medical School will present "Genetic and RNAi Analysis of C. elegans Aging" as part of the Florence S. Mahoney Memorial Lecture.

Executive Function:
Current Knowledge and Future Research Opportunities - June 15-17, 2003

This NIH sponsored workshop on Executive Function is scheduled for June 15-17, 2003. This activity co-sponsored by NINDS, NIMH, NIDA, NIA and NIAAA, was born of our interest in highlighting to the extramural NIH community exciting new perspectives/research findings/controversies in Cognitive Neuroscience.

Florence S. Mahoney Memorial Lecture on Aging -- March 12, 2003
The First Annual Florence S. Mahoney Memorial Lecture on Aging will be held Wednesday, March 12th at 3PM at the Masur Auditorium.

Symposium on Slowly Aging Organisms (SOSA-2) - January 17-18, 2003
The focus is on the natural history of aging in long-lived birds and reptiles. Leading researchers from field biology and zoological parks will convene with molecular geneticists. A poster session is planned.

Conference on Dietary Supplement Use in the Elderly - January 14-15, 2003
The conference will present data on dietary supplement use by the elderly and review evidence-based studies of dietary supplements and their relationships to age-related functional changes and diseases.

Thirteenth Annual Nathan W. Shock Memorial Lecture - Sept. 12, 2002
"The New Biology of Aging - Worms, Flies and Age Related Disease" will be presented by Dr. Gordon J. Lithgow, Associate Professor at The Buck Institute for Age Research in Novato, California.

NIA Regional Meeting on Aging Research -- April 26, 2002
The NIA recognizes the need for experimental scientists to meet and explore new opportunities that exists in aging research. To meet this need, NIA will host a regional meeting at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

"The Brain, The Body & Aging" -- March 11 and 15th, 2002
To celebrate Brain Awareness Week, the National Institute on Aging (NIA) invites older adults to learn more about brain-related conditions like depression, vision problems, and memory loss. On March 11 and March 15, experts from the National Institutes of Health will share their knowledge at a free event called “The Brain, The Body, and Aging” at the University of Maryland Shady Grove Center.
