Geographic Information System for Breast Cancer Studies on Long Island (LI GIS)
Description:
The Geographic Information System for breast cancer studies on Long Island (LI GIS) provides researchers a unique tool with which to investigate potential relationships between environmental exposures and risk for breast cancer. It also can be used to study other types of cancer and other diseases.
The LI GIS system draws on 80 databases, including demographic, environmental, and health data, and more databases will be added. Only researchers with approved protocols can access the system because of privacy and confidentiality issues. However, there is much descriptive information about the system available to the public and researchers on the LI GIS Web site.
