Study Finds African-American Women Have Highest Pap Test Rate

According to a study in the April issue of the American Journal of Public Health, African-American women are more likely than any other racial group to get screened for cervical cancer with a Pap test. Researchers from the US National Cancer Institute and Institute of Medicine analyzed data from a 1995 health survey of more than 10,800 US females aged 15-44 to see what factors influenced women's use of Pap testing. The study also found that the greater the woman's income or education level, the more likely she was to have been screened.
