Synopsis:
The purpose of this session
is to introduce participants to the IHS Electronic Health Record and to review
recommendations for site planning and preparation for EHR. Administrative
leadership, clinical buy-in, and active engagement of all departments are
critical factors in the successful transition from paper to electronic medical
records. At the conclusion of this session participants should: 1)
Be familiar with the general functional capabilities of IHS-EHR version 1; 2)
Appreciate the importance of clinical and administrative leadership to all
aspects of preparation for and implementation of EHR; and, 3) Understand the
recommended steps that facilities should go through in the 9-12 months before
EHR implementation that will maximize the opportunity for a successful transition.

Software in Support of EHR - Please Could You Just Show Me, Don’t Make Me Read
Conference Room: Bouchon
Time: 10:45 am – 11:30
am
Synopsis: The GUI or Graphical User Interface
is what makes the promise of the IHS EHR possible. End users acceptance of the
IHS EHR and therefore it’s future success will be, to
a great extent, dependent upon how intuitive the interface is and how well it is
supported. Graphics based end-user training and application help are
much more likely to be used and be of benefit than text based manuals and help
menus. Through the use of intuitive instructional design software we will
support the IHS EHR with real time, application integrated, graphics based
“Show Me” help and anytime, anywhere, multimedia interactive computer based
training. At the completion of this presentation, the participant will be able
to: 1) Identify animation software for simulations and presentations in
support of EHR training. 2) Learn appropriate uses of these applications
3) Gain an awareness of 508 compliance issues when developing EHR
simulation training 4) Consider a graphic approach to quickly address EHR FAQs and Help issues that come up at your site

Synopsis: MoJo is
the next generation of PCC+. It is a
process that allows PCC+ forms to be input using the Tablet PC or the HP
Digital Pens. Once the provider has
completed filling out the forms, these are instantly uploaded to a data
processing queue. The Data entry staff review the forms and data captured
with a Windows based data entry module. Once they approve the visit it
automatically completes the posting of the data to the V-files in RPMS. The entire visit and data entry process is
completed with no manual data entry. The
providers can review the notes with a link to an online web browser.
Extended Broker
Connectivity Utility (EBCU)
Presenter:
TBA
Conference Room: Sonora
Time: 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm
Synopsis: EBCU
allows the RPMS database to be exposed to the Windows Environment. RPMS data
can be used to automatically populate windows dot.Net based controls. For
example (a report could be established in an Excel Spreadsheet, this could have
graphs, etc., the report would connect to the RPMS database upon opening
through EBCU. This would allow the
report to populate with live data and populate the graphs as well). This could be tied to any Windows-based
program (Excel, Microsoft Word, Crystal Reports, etc.) This is a huge break-through for the future of
RPMS development. It is the key link to
exposing a non-relational legacy database to the graphical object oriented
environment.
