Patient Account Management System (PAMS)

Electronic Revenue Generation Model

Synopsis:  This presentation will provide an overview of new electronic claims processing model and data integration project that uses a new Microsoft product that can be used in conjunction with RPMS and other commercial systems to integrate financial data at a Site, Area, and Headquarters level based on a current demonstration project.  This Microsoft product has the potential to integrate clinical data and financial data from multiple sources.

 

User Population Reporting for FY 2004

Synopsis:  The IHS Director has slated several changes to the IHS user population process for FY 2004:  (1) the deadline for receipt of all FY 2004 data has been moved from November 30 to November 15; and (2) no adjustments will be made for non-received data except in rare instances of information system problems that remain unresolved despite demonstrated diligence.  In this session Dr. Carver will discuss the implications of these changes for IHS and tribal health programs.  She will also discuss the methods by which the Division of Program Statistics has adjusted the user population in the past.  She will discuss the circumstances under which these methods may still be used.

Patient Registration Version 7.1

Synopsis:  The RPMS Patient Registration system captures patient data and is a fundamental tool for other RPMS applications.  ITSC is committed to providing updates to the software that will greatly benefit the users of the system as well as ensuring the accuracy of data received.  Patient Registration Version 7.1 is currently under development and plans are to test and release the software by this fall.  Patient Registration Version 7.1 is also a requirement for the new Patient Account Management System.  This session will provide an overview of the new enhancements as well as the screen design.

 

HIPAA 835 Process and AR Version 1.8

Radiology v5.0

Synopsis:  Most IHS sites will go from Radiology v 4.0, past some major changes in v 4.5, straight to our current version 5.0.  New features include support for additional imaging types, barcodes, HL7 interfaces for both exams and reports, and single reports for a Parent/Descendent set of exams.  There are definitely some process changes as sites allow computerized order entry in preparation for EHR.  Help us answer some questions about proposed modifications.

An In-depth Look into SQL Server DTS Packages

Synopsis:  The purpose of this presentation is to explore the inner workings of DTS package modules.  The presenter will discuss writing code that dynamically writes code in DTS modules, thereby minimizing programming and maintenance time of DTS packages considerably.  The presenter will also demonstrate the use of EISS import routines that have been created as an example of how this dynamic code can be used in many different ways for many different purposes (in the case of EISS, ARMS is used, GPRA+, RPMS data, etc.) without having to re-write code.  Note:  This session will require some knowledge of SQL Server DTS packages and scripting languages. 

 

Executive Information Support System (EISS)

Synopsis:  This session will focus on the use of the EISS as a management tool for RPMS.  The EISS provides an integrated series of applications for information delivery, which enables customers to display critical management-level information about the enterprise with dynamic graphs and reports on-the-fly.  The system currently provides Training, Travel, and WebFRS data.  Other data and reports currently in progress include: GPRA+ 2004, Pharmacy Drug Cost and Workload, and ASM/PSR reports.

 

Multi-Program Online Recruitment Enterprise (MORE) (Nursing, Dental, Pharmacy)

The Benefits of Electronic Processing with the IHS/CHS Fiscal Intermediary

Synopsis:  The CHMS module is a facility-based automated document and fiscal management system for the IHS Contract Health Services Program.  The CHMS is a fully integrated component of the RPMS and utilized shared data files for patients and vendors.  The system generates authorizations for payment for CHS and maintains an up-to-date commitment register of all currently obligated and paid CHS funds.  CHMS automates document preparation functions including document generation, printing and approval for payment.  The application provides for electronic communication of authorization information to the National Data Center and Fiscal Intermediary located in Albuquerque, NM.

Synopsis:  The GUI or Graphical User Interface is what makes the promise of the IHS EHR possible. End users acceptance of the IHS EHR and therefore it’s future success will be, to a great extent, dependent upon how intuitive the interface is and how well it is supported.  Graphics based end-user training and application help are much more likely to be used and be of benefit than text based manuals and help menus.  Through the use of intuitive instructional design software we will support the IHS EHR with real time, application integrated, graphics based “Show Me” help and anytime, anywhere, multimedia interactive computer based training. PCC+ - Where We Are, Drifting or Adrift?

Synopsis:  This presentation will provide an overview of PCC+ activities to include training, deployment, implementation, program evaluation, and lessons learned.  The RPMS PCC+ application was released for IHS-wide deployment in June 2001.  The ultimate goal of this project is to improve the quality of health care by combining the best features of the PCC encounter form, superbill, and health summary into one integrated document.  Other goals are, to increase data entry quality and productivity, improve coding and problem documentation, and to enhance a providers' ability to assess the patient's overall health care status at the time of encounter.

Medical Office Journaling and Operations (MoJo)

Synopsis:  MoJo is the next generation of PCC+.  It is a process that allows PCC+ forms to be input using the Tablet PC or the HP Digital Pens.  Once the provider has completed filling out the forms, these are instantly uploaded to a data processing queue.  The Data entry staff review the forms and data captured with a Windows based data entry module.  Once they approve the visit it automatically completes the posting of the data to the V-files in RPMS.  The entire visit and data entry process is completed with no manual data entry.  The providers can review the notes with a link to an online web browser.

 

Extended Broker Connectivity Utility (EBCU)

Synopsis:  EBCU allows the RPMS database to be exposed to the Windows Environment. RPMS data can be used to automatically populate windows dot.Net based controls. For example (a report could be established in an Excel Spreadsheet, this could have graphs, etc., the report would connect to the RPMS database upon opening through EBCU.  This would allow the report to populate with live data and populate the graphs as well).  This could be tied to any Windows-based program (Excel, Microsoft Word, Crystal Reports, etc.)  This is a huge break-through for the future of RPMS development.  It is the key link to exposing a non-relational legacy database to the graphical object oriented environment.
