Skin Cancer Foundation Invites Applications for Research Grants Program

Deadline: October 15, 2004

The Skin Cancer Foundation invites researchers to submit applications for one-year projects to be conducted at medical institutions within the United States. The program is intended for pilot projects that, if successful, can be developed to the point where they are eligible for larger grants from other sources.

Only applications for research projects relevant to skin cancer will be accepted for consideration.

Preference is given to projects that address, at the basic science and clinical level, improved methods of prevention and detection of skin cancers.

Educational projects for the prevention of skin cancer are also eligible for consideration. Because the amounts of the grants are small ($5,000 to $10,000), it is the foundation's policy not to fund overhead or indirect costs.

About the Organization
Through its Research Grants program, the Skin Cancer Foundation provides funding for basic research, clinical studies, and educational programs related to skin cancer. All projects are selected on the basis of their applicability to the foundation's mission of reducing the incidence, morbidity, and mortality of skin cancer.

For more information, see the Skin Cancer Foundation Web site for complete program guidelines and application procedures at http://skincancer.org/aboutus/research_grants.php.
