What's New?
FTS/GSA
is pleased to announce three new services for Federal employees:
Video Relay Service (VRS)
Internet Relay
Captioned Telephone (CapTel)
|
Video Relay Service (VRS)
A New Tool for Natural Communication We call it Video Relay Services
(VRS). You'll call it an indispensable tool for your communication
needs. An exciting alternative to traditional TTY relay service,
VRS facilitates natural telephone conversation between ASL and standard
telephone users. A qualified video interpreter sits remotely between
both parties, using a telephone and web camera to help facilitate
the exchange of ideas. For more information
Internet Relay Sprint
RelaySM is pleased to introduce a new way to access our service,
Internet Relay. Anyone with an Internet Service Provider (ISP) account
can access this new product. For more information
Captioned Telephone (CapTel)
The CapTel phone looks and works like an amplified telephone with
one important addition - everything your "called party" says is
displayed in text, word-for-word, while you are listening to the
speaker (if applicable) and need only one analog phone line. CapTel
is not a TTY, but a telephone with built-in captions, designed to
let you have a more natural interactive conversation. Just dial
the number of the person you are calling and listen while reading
the text of everything they say. A Captionist, using the latest
voice recognition technology for virtually real-time transcriptions
of your call, generates the captions. For more information
